Treatment of skin conditions

Skin diseases can have many causes and manifest themselves in very different ways—from inflammatory skin changes to chronic skin diseases and allergic reactions. A precise dermatological diagnosis is the basis for effective treatment.

Common skin conditions and their treatment

At our dermatology practice in Hamburg, we diagnose and treat acute and chronic skin conditions using modern dermatological procedures. Our goal is to identify the causes of skin changes and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that manifests as red, scaly patches on the skin. The disease usually occurs in episodes. The treatment of psoriasis is individual and can include medication, anti-inflammatory creams, and supportive measures such as lifestyle and dietary adjustments.

Hand eczema

Hand eczema is one of the most common occupational skin diseases. Typical symptoms include dry, reddened, and itchy skin as well as painful cracks. Depending on the cause, hand eczema is treated with anti-inflammatory medication, special care concepts, and protective measures.

Acne

Acne is one of the most common skin diseases worldwide. It often occurs during puberty, but can also affect adults. The treatment of acne depends on its severity and may include medical creams, medication, or dermatological procedures.

Perioral dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis, also known as mouth rose, is an inflammatory rash on the face. It usually forms around the mouth and occurs primarily in women between the ages of 16 and 45. The cause is not b

Hair and nail disorders

Hair disorders

Hair loss and damage to the hair structure can have a number of causes, including stress, an unbalanced diet, vitamin D and iron deficiency, and hormonal changes. The visible symptom is usually hair loss that exceeds normal hair loss. Depending on the cause, a wide variety of treatments can help—from external treatments such as hair solutions and oral vitamins to PRP and mesotherapy.

Nail disorders

Nail dystrophy, i.e., changes in the nail structure, can occur at any age and manifest itself in a variety of ways, including brittle nails, nails that split lengthwise (onychorrhexis), and thickened nail plates (wooden nails). Most nail infections are fungal infections (onychomycosis). However, bacterial and viral infections can also occur. A detailed diagnosis is necessary in order to develop the right treatment.

Precancerous skin lesions and skin tumors

Treating actinic keratoses

Actinic keratoses are caused by long-term exposure to sunlight and are considered a precursor to non-melanoma skin cancer.

They can be treated using various methods, including special creams, photodynamic therapy, or laser treatments.

Basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas

Basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas are types of non-melanoma skin cancer. Early dermatological diagnosis enables targeted treatment and prevents the disease from progressing.

Recognizing and treating melanomas

Melanoma is a particularly aggressive form of skin cancer. Regular skin checks and early removal of suspicious skin changes are crucial for successful treatment.

Outpatient surgery

Some skin conditions require outpatient surgery. My practice has a modern operating room for this purpose. I will discuss the options with you in advance and ensure a calming, pleasant atmosphere. The procedures are performed under local anesthesia, which is barely noticeable. In addition to the medical necessities, I also take cosmetic considerations into account in outpatient surgery. For the analysis of skin samples, I have been working trustfully with a renowned histological institute for many years. Outpatient procedures may be necessary for a wide variety of skin conditions.

Conditions requiring outpatient treatment

  • Naevi (atypical moles)

  • Atheromas (sebaceous cysts) and lipomas

  • Skin tags and age spots

  • Actinic keratoses (precancerous skin lesions)

  • Basal cell carcinomas and spinaliomas (light skin cancer)

  • Melanomas (dark skin cancer)
